Purifion CT-520 220 volts Plasma cutter There is a perception that MOSFETS will not offer significant performance improvements in applications and IGBTS are a new technology. The last few years the performance of MOSFETS was improved a lot. I will stay with the MOSFET technology as it is very reliable. If you are going for much bigger machines consider IGBTS but for smaller machines MOSFETS work much better. IGBT is catching up with the Mosfet technology. In the 1980 and early 1990s IGBT were slow in switching and prone to failure. Give it a few years and IGBT will be really good for the bigger machines. These are not entry level units. Entry level are 20 amps 120 volts that go for $1200 at most major retail stores. These compare to most of the brand names out there.
